Why do i love laurel soap or more known as Aleppo soap?
Aleppo soap (also known as savon d’Alep, laurel soap, Syrian soap, or ghar soap, the Arabic word “غَار”, meaning ‘laurel’) is a handmade, hard bar soap associated with the city of Aleppo, Syria. Aleppo soap is classified as a Castile soap as it is a hard soap made from olive oil and lye, from which it is distinguished by the inclusion of laurel oil.
The manufacturing process is still hand-made by specialized craftsmen: transmission of the know-how of the saponification from father to son. The cubes are cut manually, dried in towers, protected from the sun during 9 months minimum to obtain an exclusively authentic soap, with its characteristic irregular outlines, respectueux good for the skin and respectful of the environment.
Aleppo soap is normally made using a type of hot process technique but mine is made on cold process, and beside the olive oil i added also coconut oil, castor oil and argan oil, with 5% laurel oil superfat and with added natural plants powder (spirulina and rosemary powder) and essential oils (rosemary and pine).
WHAT IS LAUREL BERRY OIL?
Laurel berry oil is an oil that is extracted from the fruit of the bay laurel tree.
